Two groups are being recruited for this study:
The test group: those who currently use antipschotics.
The control group: those who do not use antipsychotics.
Eligibility requirements for each group can be found below.
You are 18 years old or older.
You have diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder.
You are currently prescribed an antipsychotic medication.
You have not been prescribed antibiotics within the past 3 months.
You are 18 years old or older.
You do not have diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder.
You are not currently prescribed antipsychotic medication.
You have not been prescribed antibiotics within the past 3 months.
Who should not take part?
You should not take part in this study if any of the following are true:
If you are under 18 years of age.
If you have a confirmed diagnosis of dementia.
If you have an intellectual disability.
If you have been prescribed antibiotics within the past 3 months.
Participation is entirely voluntary, and you are entitled to withdraw at any stage during the study procedure.
Participants in this research study will not receive any form of monetary compensation.
